Leprosy is a chronic bacterial infection involving skin as well as nerves. If left untreated, it can also involve various organs of the body leading to significant long term disabilities. Light colored patches of sensory loss over the skin or red colored round to oval patches should never be ignored. Treatment is long term ranging from 6months to 1 year.
